Question 1

How does KettleSky provide activity guidance?

Accepted Answer

For a selected U.S. location, KettleSky pairs the latest available nearby National Weather Service observation with available forecast context to produce activity-specific weather and gear cues. It supports Dog Walking, Photography, Running, Golf, Commuting, Yard Work, Hiking, Camping, Stargazing, Drone Flying, and Surfing. Guidance is not a route or surface report, and it is not a guarantee of conditions or outcomes.

Question 2

What alerts does KettleSky provide?

Accepted Answer

KettleSky shows in-app personal thresholds for humidity, estimated ground moisture, estimated fog potential, feels-like changes, and station gust changes. It also provides a live national severe-weather alert view across the Continental United States, sourced from National Weather Service data with official details. Text-alert delivery is currently not configured, so KettleSky does not promise SMS, push notifications, or another alert channel.

Question 3

What does the radar view show?

Accepted Answer

The radar view centers on the active KettleSky location and provides NOAA/NWS/OAR MRMS precipitation radar through nowCOAST, with a timeline and playback view. Cloud-cover and wind radar layers are not currently available. Radar does not certify local conditions at a specific destination.

Question 4

What hurricane information is available?

Accepted Answer

The public Atlantic hurricane view provides official seasonal counts, storm conditions, National Hurricane Center forecast guidance, and active coastal hurricane and tropical-storm watches and warnings from NHC advisories. A model or forecast track is not an official warning. For current safety decisions, follow official NHC advisories and local emergency guidance.

Question 5

How do scheduled weather briefs work?

Accepted Answer

Signed-in users can opt into daily weather briefs for a saved location when a valid IANA time zone is saved. The scheduler attempts morning, noon, and evening local delivery by email. An attempted send may be unconfirmed or fail, so delivery is not guaranteed.

Question 6

What are KettleSky’s data and local-condition limits?

Accepted Answer

Observations can be delayed, and forecast or estimated cues can be unavailable or stale. KettleSky does not report road, trail, campsite, golf-course, or other destination conditions. Check relevant official and local sources before relying on the guidance.
